Keeping drivers safe is vital to Urgent Specialists. Our Clinicians are certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and are specially trained to understand DOT regulations.

A Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical is an examination mandated by FMCSA for Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Drivers. A DOT Physical helps determine if a driver is physically, mentally, and emotionally capable to operate a commercial vehicle for long hours. Once the DOT physical is passed, the Certified Medical Examiner will issue a health certificate.

What To bring To Your Physical

ALL DRIVERS NEED TO BRING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WITH YOU THE DAY OF YOUR PHYSICAL:

  • A current state issued ID
  • Glasses, contacts, hearing aids
  • List of current medications, doses, and prescribing doctor

What To Expect The Day Of Your Physical

  • During a DOT physical, the Certified Medical Examiner will complete a hands on physical to assess:
    • General Appearance
    • Eyes, Ears, Mouth, and Throat
    • Heart
    • Lungs
    • Extremities
    • Back and Spine
    • Hernias
    • Nervous System

  • Your height, weight, neck circumference and body mass index will be measured. These measurements are important to determine if you are at risk for sleep apnea.
